The program will take place Saturday from 9 to about 10:30 a.m. in the Home & Family Arts Building at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds in Goshen.
This workshop will include planning and organizational ideas, recipes, crafts, quick and easy decorations and sewing projects to help make a successful holiday event.
Joellen Allison, Goshen, will be sharing craft ideas using pressed flowers.
Maryann Zerbe, Elkhart, will demonstrate holiday arrangements.
Mary Herschberger, Middlebury, will show the group how to make a recycled lighted Christmas tree.
Mary Ann Lienhart-Cross, Extension educator, will share holiday sewing ideas.
Committee members planning this event are chairwoman, Joellen Allison, Goshen; adviser, Theo Outman, Bristol; Patricia Gall, Milford; Mary Herschberger, Middlebury; Betty Lou Kline, Bristol; Mary Mishler, New Paris; and Maryann Zerbe, Elkhart.
Participants need to register for the program by calling the Purdue Elkhart County Extension Service at 533-0554.
The $5 admission fee, which will be collected at the door, will help cover the expense of the program and the booklet given to participants. This program is open to the general public

Education is more important than legislation
If I remember correctly, my parents once pointed to the row of school buses lining the nearby farm fields to admonish me. “What you should be doing,” they said, “is working with these kids detasseling corn. Then you might be more grateful for what you have.”
