GOSHEN —
First United Methodist Church United Methodist Women are hosting their rummage sale today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The UMW held its first sale in 1964 to raise funds to support the church’s many different missions locally, statewide and internationally.
In 1972, the sale became bi-annual, with events in the fall and spring.
All proceeds go to missions, including The Window, Meals on Wheels, the church’s preschool and Bashor Children’s Home.
Other charities that benefit include The Lucille Gains Women’s Residence in Indianapolis. In Ganta, Liberia, Africa, FUMC supports the Ganta School for more than 700 students in grades one to 12. Other missions include works in Haiti and God’s Closet in Elkhart.
On Saturday, all sale items will be marked down half price and clothing, shoes and purses will be $3 in a plastic 13-gallon bag.
The church is located at 214 S. Fifth St., Goshen, across the street from the police station.

Charlie Daniels Band coming to Shipshewana

In a recent telephone interview with The Goshen News, 74-year-old Charlie Daniels said he is feeling like a new man after his pacemaker procedure earlier this year. He says everything is in sync and he is having a great time on the road.

SYRACUSE — A crash Wednesday afternoon involving four Wawawsee Community School buses has sent 25 children and a bus driver to local hospitals for treatment. The crash occurred on Ind. 13 near Clark Marina, which is between Wawasee Middle School and the North Webster town limits.
