According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a suspected police impersonator attempted to stop a vehicle headed east on the U.S. 20 bypass east of the Ind. 19 exit at 5:10 p.m. Friday. The suspect was driving a black Chrysler 300 with a moonroof and a Tennessee license plate. The reporting driver did not stop for the suspect.
Women arrested on drug charges
Two women were arrested on drug charges after police were called to a home at 202 W. Steuben St., LaGrange, Friday.
City police and LaGrange County Sheriff’s officers were called to the home when it was reported that a man was outside the home, yelling and breaking windows in an apparent attempt to gain entry into the house.
Police found two women, Lindsay Grate, 25, 314 Hillside Drive, LaGrange, and Amanda Christlieb, 32, 202 W. Steuben St., and a large quantity of methamphetamine at the home. Police obtained a search warrant, searched the home and arrested the two women. The man who was at the scene was released.
Christlieb was charged with possession of meth, a Class B felony, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as maintaining a common nuisance. She was held at the LaGrange County jail on $29,000 bond.
Grate was charged with possession of meth and visiting a common nuisance. Her bond was set at $21,000.
Complaint leads to arrest
Acting on a compliant of suspected drug use, LaGrange County Sheriff’s officers arrested Travis Campbell Neville, 35, 4640 E. 150 South, LaGrange, early Monday, on charges of possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance. He was booked at the county jail.
Bashor resident arrested
According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, a 14-year-old resident at Bashor Children’s Home was charged with intimidation after officers were called there at 10 p.m. Sunday. The teenager reportedly made a death threat against the officer. The teen was taken to the juvenile detention center in Goshen.
Theft/burglary reports
• Goshen police responded to the 200 block of South Third Street at 11 p.m. Sunday regarding teenagers getting into unlocked vehicles. Police located four 17-year-olds along the Millrace Parkway and identified them for possible future charges.
• Sheriff’s officers received a report of a telephone theft from a woman who was visiting a Goshen home Sunday. Police said Julia Perez, 24, reported her I-phone was stolen as she attended a party at a home in the 61000 block of C.R. 21, Goshen, early Sunday.
Vandalism reports
• Goshen police reported that trash from making methamphetamine was found behind Linway Plaza, 600 W. Lincoln Ave., Sunday morning. Indiana State Police were notified and went to the scene to clean up the trash.
• Goshen police received a report from James Krezel, 49, Goshen, that someone had damaged a home in the 600 block of Alana Drive. He reported the damage Sunday.
• According to a report by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Richard Matteson, Concord High School safety manager, reported that eight school buses were entered while parked at the school, 59117 Minuteman Way, sometime between 7 p.m. Feb. 16 and 6:50 a.m. on Feb. 17. Several fire extinguishers were removed and discharged.
Traffic arrests
• Goshen police reported the arrest of Rogelio Romero-Garay, 35, 1321 S. Eighth St., after a traffic stop in the 700 block of Lincolnway East at 6:44 p.m. Sunday. The driver was arrested on a charge of driving with an invalid license.
• Goshen police arrested Alfonso Lopez, 34, 121 W. Washington St., Goshen, after a traffic stop at 4024 Elkhart Road at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The driver was arrested on a charge of driving while never receiving a license and was booked at the county jail.
• Sheriff’s officers reported the arrest of Guadalupe Quinter-Salayez, 51, Goshen, after a traffic stop at C.R. 17, north of C.R. 28, at 10 p.m. Sunday. The driver arrested on a charge of driving while never receiving a license. He was booked at the county jail.
Drug/alcohol arrests
• Goshen police reported the arrest of Crystal N. Bracken, 29, 732 E. Jefferson, Louisville, Ky., when she was found in possession of a stolen vehicle from Kentucky in the 2600 block of Lincolnway East at 8:15 a.m. Sunday. She was booked into the county jail on charges of identity deception, forgery and attempting to forge drug prescriptions.
• Sheriff’s officers reported the arrest of a passenger in a car after a traffic stop at 6:10 p.m. Friday. Arrested was Phillip Liberty, 40, 640 Goshen Ave., Elkhart, on a charge of possession of more than 40 grams of marijuana. He was booked at the county jail on the Class D felony. Bond was set at $3,000.
• According to a sheriff’s report, Seth Jordan, 20, 65550 Ash Road, Wakarusa, was stopped at Ind. 15, north of C.R. 40, at 2:47 a.m. Saturday for a traffic violation. He was accused of possession of marijuana and a stolen handgun. He was booked into the county jail on the drug charge. Bond was set at $1,500.
• Two minors were cited on alcohol charges after a traffic stop at Ind. 120, east of C.R. 131, at 10:50 p.m. Saturday. Sheriff’s officers said they cited Gary A. Miller, 20, for possession and illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages after he was stopped. A passenger, Glen Farmwald, 18, was also cited for consumption and possession of alcohol. They were cited and released.
OWI arrests
• Goshen police reported the arrest of Palwinder Singh, 47, 319 Arbor Court, Goshen, after a traffic stop at Third and Jefferson streets at 9:40 p.m. Sunday. The driver was arrested on a chaerge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and never obtaining a license. He was booked at the county jail.
• According to a sheriff’s department report, Jacobo S. Castillo, 33, 67118 Southfield Circle, Goshen, was stopped at C.R. 42, east of C.R. 142, south of Goshen, at 12:01 a.m. Saturday. He reportedly failed a blood-alcohol test and was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was booked at the county jail. Bond was set at $1,500.
• According to a sheriff’s report, a vehicle driven by Adam Young, 25, 22230 Farmwood Drive, Bristol, was stopped for a traffic violation at C.R. 17 and C.R. 10 at 12:40 a.m. Sunday. After being stopped the driver backed into a patrol car, but did not cause damage. The driver reportedly failed a blood-alcohol test and was booked at the county jail on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
• Sheriff’s officers arrested Cody Hastings, 20, 210 Leclere St., Ligonier, after a traffic stop at U.S. 6, east of C.R. 33, at 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The driver was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and was booked at the county jail. Police said a 20-year-old passenger was also charged with illegal consumption of alcohol and was released.
• According to a report by Middlebury police, a Chevrolet Avalanche was being driven erratically at U.S. 20, west of C.R. 33, at 2:40 a.m. Sunday. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, Harold L. Gingerich, 28, 5230 W. 450 North, Shipshewana, on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was booked at the county jail.
