Input sought on museum exhibits, programs

A STAFF REPORT THE GOSHEN NEWS

Elkhart County Historical Museum staffers invite the public to a  feedback session and evening open house at the museum Thursday.

Staffers want to know how the history museum can better serve the public’s needs. They’d like input on what should be included in the museum’s educational offerings, and also how programs or exhibits are valuable or could be improved.

The drop-in feedback session is set from  6:30 to 7:30 p.m.  

“Everyone in the Elkhart County community is encouraged to attend,” said museum manager Matthew Schuld. “We want to hear from teachers, business people, factory workers, stay-at-home parents, teens, college students. The museum strives to serve all ages and people from Elkhart County, so we are eager to hear how we can best meet your expectations.”

Starting at 6:30 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to provide feedback at several stations in the museum’s Community Building. The museum will be open extra hours, and staff will be on hand to answer any questions and discuss the educational offerings already available at the museum.

Visitors are also invited to take a “sneak peak” at the construction of the new Corson Local History Library and Special Collections Reading Room.

Visitors who contribute feedback will be entered for a chance to win several Valentine’s Day-themed prizes, including a gift certificate to the new Danny K’s Smokehouse and Grill in Bristol, a gift certificate to the Elkhart Civic Theatre, and a certificate for a free private tour and tasting at Fruit Hills Winery and Orchard.
