Top donor smears teacher with pie

SHIPSHEWANA — Kari Parker’s sixth-grade class at Westview Elementary School recently raised funds for the Kenny Burkett Clinic in LaGrange.

The Kenny Burkett Clinic is a medical clinic in LaGrange, that provides free health care services to LaGrange County residents who do not have health insurance.

Parker’s class nominated three teachers. For one week the students at Westview Elementary brought in money to vote for which teacher they would like to see get a pie in the face.

Parker got the most votes and Alex Burr, a sixth-grade student, brought in the biggest donation and therefore got to throw the pie.

The students were able to raise almost $250 for the clinic.

The clinic presently has a matching grant which matched the money, giving them a grand total of almost $500.
