NEW PARIS NEWS: Kindergarten roundup set for Tuesday

Benton, New Paris elementaries have registration forms at offices


NEW PARIS, Ind — Kindergarten roundup will take place at New Paris Elementary and Benton Elementary Schools Tuesday.

Identical sessions will be held at Benton at 5:30 and 7 p.m. and one session will take place at 6:30 p.m. at New Paris.

Children must be 5 years or older on or before Aug. 1 to be eligible this year.

Forms to register children are available at each of the school offices. For more information, call the Benton office at 831-2192 and New Paris at 831-2196.

Benton Elementary School: The “Caring Wall” chili fundraiser will take place March 15 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The recipient of the proceeds this year is Hearing Angel, an organization that provides needy children with restored hearing aids.

The a la carte menu includes chili, hotdogs, chilidogs, grilled pork burgers, chips, water soda, ice cream sandwiches and other assorted desserts.

New Paris Elementary: Parent’s day is March 11 from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. March 12 marks the end of the third nine-week grading period.



Upward Games

The Upward basketball games will be played Saturday morning in the Benton Elementary School gym starting at 8. Items for hair styling, cleansing and conditioning will be collected for the Fairfield Food Pantry and money will be collected for the Riley Hospital for Children.



Church news

Maple Grove Church of the Brethren: Special music is by Tara Kirkdorffer and paper products will be collected for the Fairfield Food Pantry. A Lent service will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Stan Godfrey of the New Paris Church of the Brethren speaking on “Trial.”
