LAGRANGE — Monday afternoon, former LaGrange Town Clerk, Michael D. Rowlison made a plea deal with special prosecutor Tom Wilson before Senior Judge Walter Palmer, presiding in LaGrange County Circuit Court. Rowlison was facing two felonies, one for theft and one for official misconduct.
In November 2012, the 66-year-old, Rowlison was arrested in his home after a police investigated a complaint by the LaGrange Town Attorney’s office.
Police said they found town property and items suspected to have been purchased with town funds. Rowlison officially tendered his resignation on Dec. 29, 2012. Laurie Miller was sworn in as the new Town Clerk on Jan. 25.
Rowlison pled guilty to two misdemeanors. One count for official misconduct and one count for “conversion” which is “less than theft.” The two class D felony charges were dropped.
Judge Palmer sentenced Rowlison to 1 year in jail, sentence suspended; 24 months of probation; 120 hours of community service; $1,000 in restitution to be paid within 180 days; May not run or hold public office for 10 years and he was ordered to participate fully in all orders from the probation department regarding recommended rehabilitation or counseling.

UPDATE: Wawasee bus driver, some students taken to hospital after crash
SYRACUSE — A crash Wednesday afternoon involving four Wawawsee Community School buses has sent 25 children and a bus driver to local hospitals for treatment. The crash occurred on Ind. 13 near Clark Marina, which is between Wawasee Middle School and the North Webster town limits.
