GOSHEN —
Five-year-old twins, Tommy and Teddy Fattal, finished their popcorn while waiting for the movie to begin in the Goshen Theater Friday.
“It was the goodest popcorn I’ve ever had,” Tommy said, smiling.
The brothers sat with their parents, George and Dawn Fattal, to see the free showing of the movie, “Babe,” for the February First Fridays in downtown Goshen.
They decided to make it family fun night, and the price was just right.
“I’ve been here since 1986 and never been in the theater,” George Fattal said. “This is a bit nostalgic for me. It’s very impressive in here.”
Dawn Fattal said her husband had read about the First Fridays February event with the theme, “Goshen is for Lovers,” in the paper.
“This is something the whole family can enjoy,” she said. “We’re all set and we even got a good parking spot.”
Mr. Fattal has seen the movie, “a long time ago,” he said.
“I’ve never seen it,” Mrs. Fattal said, smiling. “This is just great. First Fridays are a great idea.”
The theater filled up with the sounds of families enjoying each other’s company while munching on popcorn.
Randy and Laura Horst waited to see the movie, again.
“We’ve seen this movie before. We love the movie,” Laura Horst said. “That’s why we’re here.”
She quoted a favorite line from the movie, “Pork is a nice sweet meat.”
First Fridays Coordinator Katrina Maust greeted people waiting in line to get snacks before the movie.
“I’m always surprised at the turnout and it’s a pleasure to see people support us,” Maust said. “It’s cold outside and we are right on track with a free movie.”
Several of the businesses in downtown Goshen have specials for shoppers continuing today.
Salon J hosted a Cutest Couple Facebook Photo Contest and invited participants to post their photos on the Salon J’s wall for people to vote.
“We try to keep it new and different things going on,” hairstylist Diana Hoke said. “It was a good turnout for the first time with the Cutest Couples of 2013. It surpassed our expectations on how many people liked the page. It was fun and we had different ages.”
