Vehicle fire extinguished in Market Centre

GOSHEN — Goshen firefighters were called  to extinguish a vehicle fire in front of Malibu Tanning in the Market Centre complex Sunday.

Assistant Fire Chief Jim Ramer said firefighters were called to the scene at 7:10 p.m. Vehicle owner Charlotte Mackirklen of Elkhart was eating at a Market Centre restaurant. She stepped outside and saw that smoke was rising from the engine compartment of her 2002 Buick Regal. Ramer said the compartment was ablaze when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $3,000.
