Assembly Mennonite Church hosts ‘Creation Care Day’

GOSHEN — On Sunday, Assembly Mennonite Church in Goshen, Ind., celebrated Creation Care Day, encouraging everyone to bike, walk or carpool to worship.

The day concluded with bike safety tips, an introduction to the 20-plus new wall-hanging bike hooks on the church and a “Blessing of the Bicycles.”

The focus coincided with Climate Impact Day, an international effort to connect the dots between climate change and extreme weather.

The events were planned by the church’s Creation Care Ministry Team as part of a congregational goal to “better understand our impact on God’s creation, and act, corporately and individually, to reduce the adverse effects of that impact,” according to a release from the church.
