MILFORD —
A 15-year-old Milford boy was taken to a juvenile detention facility after he struck two police cars with a skid-loader Saturday evening.
According to Kosciusko County police, officers were called to the area of C.R. 250 West and C.R. 900 North around 9:40 p.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a juvenile male who was out of control.
Officers arrived and met with the parents of the teen, who said their son had fled the residence in a skid-loader, crossing into an adjacent field. The parents said their son had become agitated earlier in the evening and subsequently locked the mother out of the house.
Police said the boy then reportedly brandished a baseball bat and machete from the residence before fleeing to the skid-loader.
Due to the freshly plowed field, the father provided officers with a four-wheel drive ATV to use in an attempt to apprehend the youth. As police approached the skid-loader, the juvenile reportedly turned the machinery around and rammed the ATV with the front pallet fork attachment, completely disabling the ATV.
Police said the teen then headed out of the field approaching marked squad cars on C.R. 300 West. The juvenile reportedly spun the skid-loader, striking the front of both a Milford Police Department and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department squad car.
According to police, officers attempted to contain the juvenile for approximately an hour in the general area. The teen was eventually pepper-sprayed and later surrendered to officers.
Following his arrest, the juvenile was taken to the Pierceton Woods Juvenile Detention Center. He faces potential juvenile charges of two counts of aggravated battery with substantial risk of death or injury. The charges are being forwarded to the Kosciusko County Probation Department.
The juvenile was reportedly brought to court Monday for his initial hearing before being returned to the Pierceton Woods Juvenile Detention Center to await his next hearing, set for Dec. 27 at 9:30 a.m.
