GOSHEN — Connie Garber, Goshen, who has served as vice president of mission and quality at Greencroft Communities, retired Wednesday after 27 years with the organization.
Serving in a number of roles over the years, Connie joked that her goal was to earn the honor of employee with the most titles. She began her service in home health care, rising to administrator of that service, manager of Greencroft Central Manor and has directed the corporation’s assisted living program.
Friends, relatives and co-workers gathered for a reception in her honor Tuesday at Greencroft Community Center.
Messages were read from former Greencroft president Gene Yoder, who said Connie has served the community well. He mentioned that when Connie was vice president of marketing, she had a task of re-designing the Greencroft logo.
John Bender’s comments included the claim that “working with Connie was one of the blessings in my life.”
Linda Miller, who began her years at Greencroft with Connie in home health care, said Connie was always striving to give the best.
Miller concluded by saying, “It is not good-bye, but see you later.”
Connie and her husband, Donald, live along Seventh Street in Goshen.
