SYRACUSE —
Pierceton resident Shana Patel won a $1,000 scholarship and the title of Miss Kosciusko County Saturday night at Wawasee Middle School.
Patel, 20, performed the Bollywood dance to “Jai Ho” and had a platform of “Making a Difference, One Wish at a Time.”
She is the daughter of Ursula and Hemant Patel. She attends Whitko High School, and is currently enrolled at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne.
Coming in as runner-up was Mary Jane Mix, 19. The other two contestants were Katie Allen and Elizabeth Dowell.
Patel will compete in the Miss Indiana Pageant June 19-22 at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center.
Also announced at the competition was the Miss Outstanding Teen winner.
Madeline Batista bested three other competitors for the title. She performed the ballet dance to “Bella’s Lullaby.” Her platform was health and fitness for kids.
The first runner up was Liz Hardy.
