Local photographers show off their talent in annual Elkhart County Parks contest

THE GOSHEN NEWS

The Elkhart County Parks and Recreation Department recently announced the winners of its 22nd annual photography contest. The contest had a record 374 entries this year as independent judges picked the top three finishers in three categories, along with three honorable mentions. The categories were: In the Air, Nature of the Photo and Activities in the Park.

In addition, awards were given for best of show, best black and white and best special effects, as well as youth category winners.

Winners are as follows:

In the Air

1. Mike DuBois — Sunset Blues

2. Sue Platt — Out of the Fog

3. Kathy Nobles — Frosty Morning Fishing

HM. Sue Smith — Morning; Ellen Stevens — Golden Winter Morning; Karen DeLater — River Fog

Nature of the Photo

1. Julia Tyson — The Little Things in Life

2. Joyce McGuire — Clematis

3. Gale Lascola — Winters Image

HM. Mike DuBois — Untitled; Joe Buckreis — Stunning Station; Sarah Freehafer — Garden

Activities in the Park

1. Cindy Lacava — Into the Woods at Cobus Creek

2. Linda Hachet — Snozzing

3. Catherine Clifford — Windmill

HM. Lawerence Briggs — Ox Bow Park; Andy Berney — Untitled; Pam Parcell — Quiet in the Park

Youth category

1. Taylor Poff — Little Wonders

2. Sarah Freehafer — Garden

3. Vincent Massa — Flight

HM. Taylor Poff — Masked; Taylor Poff — Signs of Life; Timothy Fleming — Tribute to Suess
