Chamber orchestra to wrap up season

On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the Maple City Chamber Orchestra will perform its final concert of the 2011-2012 season titled “Build Your Own Symphony” in Sauder Hall at Goshen College. Admission is free.

Conductor Brian Mast has chosen five of his favorite symphonic movements, representing a few of the most iconic composers of musical history to create the theme, “Build Your Own Symphony.” The repertoire includes symphonic movements from Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Schumann and Dvorak. Many of the compositions contain lively dance-like rhythms.

The Maple City Chamber orchestra, under the direction of Brian Mast, is comprised of 45 volunteer musicians who perform music for the Goshen Community and beyond.

Their music provides not only entertainment, but the musicians also focus on education and exposing people to musical diversity.

To provide this experience, the orchestra performs music free of charge. The group is supported by donations from corporate and individual sponsors.
