Woman airlifted following single-vehicle crash on Ind. 15 this morning north of Goshen

THE GOSHEN NEWS

GOSHEN — A 34-year-old woman was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital early this morning after crashing her car into a tree and utility pole along Ind. 15 early this morning, March 1, 2013.

According to Elkhart County police, at  12:48 a.m., Billie Jo Star Rippey, 34, was driving north on Ind. 15 in a 2007 Dodge Caliber when it traveled off the right side of the road, south of C.R. 126. Police said she over-corrected and the car ran off the left side of the road, striking a tree, utility pole, junction box and mailbox with the passenger side of her car. The pole snapped and wires were down. Rippey was unconsious at the scene, police said, and she was airlifted by a Medlfight to South Bend.

The crash remains under investigation by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department.

A condition report was unavailable this morning.
