GOSHEN —
The suspect in the murder of James S. Miller, a professor at Goshen College, is described as a "clean cut" white male 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall in his early to mid-20s. Goshen police released the description and an artist’s sketch of the suspect late Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Miller’s wife Linda, who is hospitalized from wounds she sustained in the early Sunday morning attack in their south Goshen home, helped an artist in compiling the sketch.
Police said, "An extensive amount of manpower and resources have been deployed in the investigation of this horrific incident. The Goshen Police Department is committed to utilizing all personnel and resources available to us to continue to patrol our neighborhoods and continue investigating."
A noticeable increase in police patrol cars from the Goshen Police Department and the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department was present Tuesday in the neighborhoods near and just north of the Miller home on Wildwood Court, which is just west of South 15th Street and south of College Avenue.
Officers added, "We continue to encourage residents now, as always, to follow personal safety measures such as locking your doors, not walking alone at night and reporting any suspicious activity. You know your neighbors and your neighborhood. If something feels wrong, call for our assistance. We are here for the residents of Goshen."
Police are asking anyone who has information about the suspect or murder to call them through the police dispatch center at 533-4151 or through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-STOP or 288-STOP or email them at police@goshencity.com.
