National Guardsman finds card

NAPPANEE, Ind. — A member of the Indiana National Guard who worked at the tornado-ravaged Nappanee last fall has sent this picture of a Christmas card he found in the rubble, in hopes of returning it to the family to which it belonged.

Sgt. Jim Lederle, Peru, with the Indiana Guard Reserves, explained that he was deployed to some of the worst-hit areas on Oct. 20. He explained that he found many items scattered on the ground, but one in particular he picked up because of its personal nature.

It was a partially destroyed Christmas card with hand-written names on it. He explained he placed the card in his truck and forgot about it until recently.

He sent the picture of the card to The News in hopes of helping find the owner, so he can return it.

Lederle said he may be reached at jdl424545@comcast.net.

It’s time to make the sale of carry-out alcohol legal on Sundays.
The state should continue to prohibit Sunday carry-out alcohol sales.
I really don’t care one way or the other.
