News' editor leaves paper

Gerry Hertzler, managing editor of The Goshen News, has left his position with the newspaper, according to an announcement today from Publisher James Kroemer.

“I want to thank Gerry for his long and dedicated service to The Goshen News,” Kroemer said. “He is a wonderful guy and his calm and steady presence in the newsroom will be missed. We all wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

A graduate of Goshen College, Hertzler started his career at The Goshen News in 1978. He worked first as a reporter, spent some time in the business office, and later returned to the newsroom as city editor and advanced to managing editor upon the retirement of Robert Conrad.

Kroemer said the newspaper would begin an immediate search for a new managing editor.
