GOSHEN —
Jules Boutique in downtown Goshen will be hosting a special event Sunday.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 20 percent of all proceeds from purchases made that day will go toward the support of missionaries Nick and Amanda (Evans) Dunn.
The Dunns are raising money to travel and minister in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia.
Next summer, the couple hopes to begin a four-year service term in Ethiopia with Christian Missionary Fellowship based out of Indianapolis.
Nick is a hospice nurse in Lafayette. He will be working to train national nurses on how to run a hospice clinic, as well as go into the slums of Addis Ababa and do home-care hospice.
Nick received a bachelor’s of Biblical studies/youth ministry/preaching from Johnson Bible College in 2007. He then went back to complete his bachelor’s in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Amanda, a 2012 graduate of Goshen High School, is in the process of getting her master’s degree in urban ministry. She will be working to help women and children in prostitution and human trafficking find a means of living outside of the sex trade.
With a hospitality tourism management degree from Purdue, Amanda hopes to use her skills to start a small cafe or business to train these women and give them another way to support their families.
Prostitution is legal in Ethiopia. The Dunns state on their website that more than 150,000 women are prostitutes, many charging only $1 per customer.
For those who would like to support their ministry and do a bit of shopping, Jules Boutique is located at 130 S. Main St., Goshen. The store’s phone number is 574-535-1119.
