WAKARUSA — The Electric Motors Corp. is getting charged up for this weekend.
All afternoon Saturday, EMC will host “Green Jobs for America: An Entertainment and Education Exposition” at its Wakarusa facility. The event will offer a venue for local “green” businesses an opportunity to showcase their innovations, including the main showcase — the introduction of the EMC Flash, being billed as the first-ever American-made electric light duty pick-up truck.
Filling out the day will be several musical acts. Glenn Nowak, Jason Sapien and Blue Fusion will fill attendees’ ears from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., leading up to the truck unveiling. Immediately following that announcement, The Byrds Celebration will perform. The Byrds Celebration features former Byrds frontman Terry Jones Rogers and continues that band’s legacy.
In addition, the event will be filmed by Emmy-award winning production company BCII, responsible for such shows as “Hot Rod Television” on ESPN2, “King of the Cage” on Pay-Per-View and ShoXC, “Forza Motorsport Showdown” on the SPEED channel and “Overhaulin’” on TLC.
“We hope that national exposure of BCII’s ‘green’ documentary will bring more attention to the cause of ‘green’ job creation,” EMC Chief Executive Officer Wil Cashen said in a release. “We want this community of dedicated partners to continue to grow on both a local and national level.”
EMC’s Wakarusa headquarters is located at 905 Nelson’s Parkway. The expo will run from 3:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, and is free and open to the public.
