GOSHEN —
Bethany Christian Middle School students will perform Doug Cooney's "The Beloved Dearly" at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students and can be reserved in the school office (534-2567).
In the play, 12-year-old Ernie is always looking for a fast buck and stumbles onto a money-making bonanza: pet funerals for kids. He hires Dusty to decorate the burial boxes, another boy to dig the holes, and a tomboy named Swimming Pool who delivers the tears. Business is great until Swimming Pool leaves and the whole venture unravels. And after his own pet departs for the canine hereafter, Ernie realizes there is more to life (and death) than making money.
