SHIPSHEWANA — The 2009 Ice Festival Pin was unveiled Nov. 11 at Westview High School, and the winning design came from Westview student Ashley Yops.
Jesse Martin, an art teacher at Westview, helped the Shipshewana Ice Festival Committee with the overall pin design.
The committee asked the community and high school officials if they would participate in a contest for this year’s 2009 Festival pin.
Martin felt this was a great opportunity to be involved in the community and challenge her Intro to Art class with the opportunity, according to Ice Festival officials.
“There were 75 entries for this year’s pin and all were extremely well done,” according to Levi King, chairman of the Shipshewana Ice Festival. “It was hard to pick just one winner. So this year, the Shipshewana Ice Festival pin winner is Ashley Yops. Second place is Samantha Hubler. Third place is Samantha Yoder. Honorable mention is Makenzie Bontrager and Richelle Sharick.”
