MILLERSBURG — The cause of an overnight fire at a vacant, single-story ranch house in Millersburg Tuesday remains under investigation.
Clinton Township Fire Chief Abe Schlabach, said the fire at 401 E. Lincoln St., started shortly after 3 a.m. in the porch area. Firefighters, with assistance from Benton Township, had the fire quickly under control.
The house was a rental, he said, and tenants were preparing to move in in about a week or so.
The fire caused quite a bit of interior damage, Schlabach said, especially to the kitchen and back porch areas.
A fire investigator from Syracuse Fire Department is working with the township to determine the cause and manner of the fire.
Damage was estimated at about $30,000.
