LIGONIER NEWS: Santa to visit fire station Saturday

LIGONIER, Ind — Special holiday activities will begin with a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ligonier fire station. Breakfast is free, donations will be accepted. At 9, Santa is due to arrive at the fire station, with gift bags for the children who visit.

A reindeer is scheduled to visit the library grounds during the morning, and Christmas carollers will sing in the downtown area during the day. A sleigh leaving from Gazebo Park will offer rides between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., at a cost of $3 for adults and $1 for kids. Proceeds will benefit the Ligonier Visitors Center.

The Chamber of Commerce window decorating contest will be judged Saturday, with prizes for the best decorations. Many local businesses have offered up their storefronts and windows to be decorated in the Christmas spirit. To top off the day, the Ligonier Historical Society is hosting a special Christmas display Saturday at the city’s historical museum on Main Street.  Also this year, a residential Christmas decorating contest is being hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Atz Furniture is donating a recliner as first prize for the winner of the house decorating contest.

Indiana is now the only state in the union that prohibits carry-out alcohol sales on Sunday. What do you think about Indiana’s current law?

It’s time to make the sale of carry-out alcohol legal on Sundays.
The state should continue to prohibit Sunday carry-out alcohol sales.
I really don’t care one way or the other.
