A decent proposal on First Fridays

GOSHEN — She said “Yes.”

Nathan Ownbey, of Danville, Ill., proposed to Kari Stembel of Goshen at the corner of Main and Washington streets in Goshen Friday. Ownbey proposed to Stembel after having friends pass out balloons with cards attached that indicated he was going to propose to his girlfriend at 7 p.m. at the corner of Washington and Main.

After Ownbey got on one knee and Stembel said “yes,” Ownbey let go of his balloon prompting everyone observing to release theirs.

Coincidentally — or perhaps not — the proposal took place during the monthly First Fridays festival in downtown Goshen.
