Goshen Housing Authority loan signed

GOSHEN —

After the Goshen City Council approved a loan to the Goshen Housing Authority last week, members of the Board of Public Works and Safety executed a promisory note Monday and loaned $35,000 to the troubled agency.

The short-term loan is being made at 2 percent interest and runs to Jan. 1, 2012.

The housing authority will use the funds to hire an accounting firm to review and complete the agency’s books and accounting records for 2010 and to prepare for 2008 and 2009 audits. The housing authority board has been enlarged and the director was terminated after financial troubles were brought to light early this year.
