GOSHEN — A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash involving a car in the 2100 block of South Main Street of Goshen at 4:55 p.m. Thursday.
Killed was Frederick Knauss Jr., 26, 51672 C.R. 109 Elkhart.
Witnesses at the scene said Knauss was driving a Buell motorcycle south on Main Street and passing slower traffic on the highway when the machine collided with a Pontiac Grand Am that was being driven onto the road from a private driveway, headed north.
The 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, according to Goshen police, was driven by Kayla Arno, 28, 106 W. Douglas St., Goshen.
Police said when the motorcycle hit the car, Knauss was ejected. Witnesses said Knauss thrown over the car, landing on the pavement.
Knauss was taken by city paramedics to a Medflight helicopter that landed at the Goshen airport, but the patient died before the transfer could be completed, medics explained. Knauss had head and internal injuries.
The crash is under investigation by Goshen police. There was heavy damage to both the motorycle and the Pontiac.
