ELKHART —
If you are looking to revamp your closet and don’t know what to do with your extra clothing, a new consignment shop in Elkhart may be just the spot.
B Boutique, located at 56028 Parkway Ave., Suite D, just off of C.R. 17 behind Sauk Trail restaurant, has been open since July 17. According to owner Bobbie Miller, opening up a clothing store gave her an opportunity to revisit a career she once had.
“My first job was in retail, so I wanted to go back to my roots,” Miller said.
Miller said that the store — which sells new or gently worn women’s clothing (sizes 2 to 20), accessories, shoes and jewelry — fills a real need to women in this area. And she thought it was important to focus on well-known, quality department store brands (including Talbot and Gap) rather than the top-of-the-line designers that may seem unaffordable to some shoppers.
“It’s the kind of clothing that people want to wear every day,” Miller said.
Miller explained that donating to a consignment shop offers a “win-win” proposition for people who choose to drop off their clothing. Shop staffers receive drop-offs, then once the clothing is sold, a percentage of the earnings goes back to the original owner. If the clothing doesn’t sell or isn’t up to Miller’s standard, she donates it to a local charity. Either way, the items are likely to find a new home.
Miller is accepting clothes for the fall and winter. B Boutique’s hours of operation are Tuesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store has a Facebook presence at B Boutique Consignment .
