GIRLS SECTIONAL ROUNDUP: Westview and Bethany both stay alive

It will be Bethany Christian and Fort Wayne Canterbury in tonight’s championship of the Class 1A sectional at Canterbury.

Bethany defeated Hamilton 49-37 and Canterbury topped Lakewood Park 100-50 in the semifinals on Friday.

Scoring leaders for Bethany were Natalie Thorne 14 points, Marie Bontrager 12, Laken Richer 10 and Hannah Hochstetler eight. Thorne had 13 rebounds, Bontrager five assists and Hochstetler three steals.

The championship begins at 7:30 p.m.

At Central Noble

The Westview Warriors advanced to the Class 2A sectional championship at Central Noble with a 39-34 win over Fremont in one semifinal on Friday.

Maria McCoy had 13 points and seven rebounds, Brooke Yoder eight points, Grace Hales six points and three assists and Olivia Miller six points for Westview.

LaVille defeated Bremen 50-43 in the other semifinal.

The championship is slated for 7 p.m.
