PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Ostrander, Kitson run Falcons over Central Noble

BENTON — THE GOSHEN NEWS

BENTON — Senior running back Kyle Ostrander rushed four 111 yards on 10 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead Fairfield to a 56-0 victory over Central Noble Friday night at Falcon Field.

The Falcons got on the board with 37 seconds left in the first quarter when quarterback Garrett Scott hooked up with running back Cameron Kitson on a 37-yard touchdown pass. Eldon Burtsfield’s kick made it 7-0. From there it was Ostrander show as the senior dominated the second quarter with scoring runs of 18, 26, 3 and 1 yards. The Falcons led 35-0 at halftime.

Kitson picked up where Ostrander left off in the third, scoring on runs of 6 and 18 yards to put the game away. Kitson finished the night with 101 yards rushing on seven carries. Scott completed 8 of 15 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.

Angola 56, W. Noble 19

ANGOLA — West Noble’s football team suffered a season-opening loss to Angola in a Northeast Corner Conference contest Friday night.

The Chargers led 13-0 midway through the second quarter on two touchdown passes from Landon Stover to Jonathan Miller. West Noble was on the move deep into Hornet territory in an attempt to build on that lead late in the second quarter, but was stopped on downs.

Angola took some momentum with a touchdown out of its two-minute offense on a six-yard run from Simon Gardner with 19 minutes left before halftime. Hornet Austin Bauer took the opening kickoff of the second half 94 yards for a touchdown, and Angola led 14-13 after Spencer Stites’ second extra-point.

The Chargers answered on the ensuing drive with a 30-yard scoring run by Erik Mawhorter. A two-point pass was incomplete, and West Noble led 19-14. Mawhorter ended the night with 160 yards on 30 carries.

Then Angola ran off 42 straight points. That included 28 points off of five Charger turnovers.
