Gregg Hostetler, 1968 Jefferson High School graduate, has coached his third girls basketball state championship team in Florida.
Hostetler, whose parents John and Bonnie still live in Goshen, guided Astronaut High School to a 52-47 win over Orlando Bishop Moore for the Class 4A crown in Florida. Astronaut is located in Titusville.
It was also the 600th career victory for Hostetler who played for the Jefferson Tigers before the school merged with Middlebury to form Northridge High School, now 40 years old.
Astronaut finished with a 25-2 record under Hostetler who also guided the program to state titles in 1991 and 2006.
His coaches at Jefferson High were Wayne Lambright and Jim Galt. Hostetler then attended Ball State University.
