NLC GOLF: Raiders win with balance

Northridge had the most balance and captured the Northern Lakes Conference high school boys golf team championship Saturday at Plymouth Country Club.

Junior David Long had a 74 for the Raiders, junior Colin Roberts 75, freshman Logan McBride 84 and sophomore Andy Morrison 85.

NorthWood senior Brady Klotz nipped Long for medalist honors by firing a 73. That included back-to-back birdies on the par-three 7th hole and the par-five 8th.

Klotz, Long anr Roberts are on the all-NLC team with Memorial senior Mike Stutz, Goshen senior Collin Chapman, Wawasee’s Curtis Coverstone, Concord junior Scott Ladehoff and Plymouth’s Doug Booth.

Honorable mention goes to Tyler Ostrom of Warsaw, Eric Tandy of Warsaw, Matt Diller of Goshen and John Kirkwood of Wawasee.

Ben Barkey of Warsaw is “Coach of the Year.”

Round-robin standings were Concord 7-0, Wawasee 6-1, Warsaw 5-2, Goshen 3-4, NorthWood 3-4, Northridge 2-5 and Plymouth 1-6.

The local sectional is Friday, June 5, at Spring Meadow Farm in Middlebury.
