Girls tourney draw conducted


Pairings have been set for the Indiana high school girls basketball tournament which begins next week.

Area sectional hosts are Concord in Class 4A, West Noble in 3A, Jimtown in 2A and Hamilton in 1A.

Northridge meets Memorial in the 4A opener at Concord next Tuesday with the winner going against Goshen in a Friday semifinal.

The bottom half of the draw has Concord meeting Central on Tuesday and the winner battling Warsaw in a Friday semifinal.

Championship games at all sites are on Saturday night, Feb. 13.

Whitko drew Tippecanoe Valley in the 3A opener at West Noble and the winner gets the host Chargers in a semifinal.

The lower bracket feaures Lakeland against Columbia City and Wawasee meeting NorthWood.

There are just five teams in the 2A sectional at Baugo Township.

LaVille meets Bremen in the only first-round game. Semifinals find Westview against Fairfield and Jimtown meeting the LaVille-Bremen winner.

Bethany Christian meets host Hamilton in the Class 1A opener and the winner faces Keystone in a semifinal game.

The bottom bracket has Canterbury against Elkhart Christian and Lakewood Park battling Blackhawk.

Four-team regional locations on Feb. 20 are Valparaiso for Class 4A, Peru for 3A, Culver for 2A and Caston for 1A.

Pairings at Valparaiso are Valparaiso and Munter sectional winners in Game 1, followed by South Bend and Concord champions.

At Peru, it’s West Noble and Fort Wayne winners in the opener with Eastbrook and Leo champions in Game 2.

Culver regional pairings are Hebron and Eastside winners in Game 1, followed by Hanover and Jimtown champions.

At Caston, it’s Gary and Hamilton winners in the opener with Caston and Oregon-Davis champions in the second contest.

One-game semistate sites on Feb. 27 are North Side Gym in Elkhart and the “Tiger Den” in Warsaw. There will be doubleheaders, games from different classes, at both locations.
