Concord, Penn easy winners; Local teams in action tonight


It was Concord over Elkhart Christian and Penn over Elkhart Central by identical 5-0 scores Monday in the opening session of a girls soccer sectional at Goshen High School.

The first round concludes today with Goshen meeting NorthWood at 5 p.m. and Northridge battling Memorial at 7.

Semifinals are Thursday night and the championship contest at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Hannah Amos scored two goals for Concord, Cassidy Field, Natalie Ogle and Staci Kirts one each.

Jessica DeLaVega was credited for two assists, Jasmine Gonsalves and Amos both one.

Concord led in shots on goal, 8-4, and corner kicks, 7-3. The halftime score was 3-0.

Hannah Osthimer netted two goals for Penn, Abigail Downey, Kathy Hojara and Allison Schulthies one each.

Joann Madias, Kimberly Luttrell and Hojara had assists.

Penn enjoyed a 21-0 command in shots on goal and 16-0 in corner kicks. It was 0-0 at halftime.
