MIDDLEBURY —
The Northridge Raiders fought hard, yet were unable to gain a victory at home, falling to the Warsaw Tigers 35-21 in Northern Lakes Conferece play Friday night.
It was Homecoming Night at Northridge, and the Raiders (0-5 overall, 0-3 NLC) showed plenty of life in the first half Friday night, with the score tied at 21 at intermission.
Junior quarterback Tanner Love was 13-for-20 on the night with 150 yards on the night.
Junior wide receiver Jailyn Rolle was Love’s preferred target on the night, with a pair TDs and 111 yards receiving.
However, the Tigers answered back in the third quarter with 14 points that the Raiders could not answer.
Northridge fought hard in the final quarter, but the Tigers defense held strong.
Northridge head coach Jonathan Kirkton said, “We held strong against Warsaw, but to give credit to them, they have an incredibly strong offensive line and number 20 (Tristan McClone) can really run.”
The name of the game for the Tigers was the rushing game, with McClone rushing for 319 yards. The Raiders
could not contain the 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back.
Kirkton said, “We try to simulate Warsaw’s offensive line, but we just do not have guys as big or strong as Warsaw has.”
Kirkton added, “We tried to simulate their strength every Tuesday and Wednesday, but at the end of the day you just can’t simulate what they do completely.”
Northridge travels to NorthWood next week as NLC play continues.
