Orla P. Miller

May 30, 1941-Sept. 18, 2012

TOPEKA — Orla P. Miller, 71, died on Tuesday morning at his residence after an extended illness.

He was born on May 30, 1941, in LaGrange County to Perry B. and Anna (Schrock) Miller.

On Oct. 14, 1965, in Topeka he married Vera Mullet. She survives.

Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Shirley (Noah) Miller of Shipshewana and Nettie (Albert ) Miller of Millersburg; nine sons, Sam (Linda) Miller of Topeka, Joe (Dorcas) Miller of Moreland, Ga., Merle (Nanette) Miller of Wawaka, Larry (Alice) Miller of Millersburg, Galen (Betty ) Miller of Topeka, Marvin (Lisa) Miller of Hutchinson, Kan., Jake (Rose) Miller of Haven, Kan., Mel (Carol) Miller of Shipshewana and Daryl (Regina) Miller of Goshen; three sisters, Edna Hershberger of LaGrange, Esther (William Henry) Yoder of Shipshewana and Susie (Johnny) Helmuth of Millersburg; 53 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Raymond Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Don Tyson; and brother-in-law, Mahlon Hershberger.

He was a farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish church.

Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today and all day Thursday at the Galen Miller residence, 7525 W. 600 South, Topeka.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Sam Miller residence, 7635 W. 600 South, Topeka. Services will be conducted by Bishop Wayne Miller and the home ministers.

Burial will be in Hawpatch Cemetery, Topeka.

Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is assisting with arrangements.
