MILFORD —
Jerry K. Smith, 69, died Saturday morning after a long battle with cancer.
He was born June 13, 1943, in Goshen, to the late Edgar and Kathryn (Wilcox) Smith. He married Susan Brown Feb. 3, 1978, in Goshen. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Mike, David and Eddie Smith and Joe (Sarah) Graham and their son, Dade; another grandson; a great-grandson; and two sisters, Jayne Weldy and Jeanne Northrop, both of Sebring, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Charlton.
A longtime resident of the area, Mr. Smith was a policeman with both the Goshen Police Department and the Florida State Highway Patrol. Following his retirement he worked as a grounds keeper at South Shore Golf Club and delivered the South Bend Tribune.
He was a member of All Saints Church, Syracuse.
His body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
