Maurice ‘Morrie’ D. Yoder

KENDALLVILLE — Maurice “Morrie” D. Yoder, 81, formerly of Topeka, died of natural causes Tuesday at 1:10 p.m. at Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.

He was born May 14, 1928, in Topeka, to Elva and Nellie (Hostetler) Yoder. He was a lifelong area resident, local businessman and a member of the First Baptist Church of Kendallville.

He married Phyllis Hoak Dec. 22, 1946. She survives.

Also surviving are his son, Michael (Linda) Yoder, Kendallville; daughter, Jane (Danny) Whitaker, Osceola; grandchildren, Amy (Andrew) Begley, Beaverton, Ore., Marcia (Rich) Presser, Fort Wayne, Tyler Pappas, Osceola, Phillip Yoder, Kendallville, and Tami (Jon) Pyfer, Elkhart; great-grandchildren, Elise and Ryan Yoder and Mitchell Pappas; sister, Joan Hughes, Hamilton; and brothers, Dwight Yoder, Virginia, Jim (Doris) Yoder, Newton, Kan., and Gary (Paula) Yoder, Rochester.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy Yoder.

Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service Friday at 11 a.m. at Topeka Baptist Church, 104 North St., Topeka.

Burial will be in Eden Cemetery, Topeka.
