Elwood E. Culp, 63790 C.R. 21, Goshen, died Saturday at his home.

He was born March 7, 1923, in Goshen, to Noble Culp and Minnie (Sheets) Culp Kauffman.

He married Martha Card June 9, 1946, in Niles, Mich. She died March 24, 2002. He then married Melba Bechtel April 24, 2004. She survives.

He retired in 1987 from the former Salem Bank, Goshen, where he worked in customer service. He was a 1942 graduate of Goshen High School and attended Butler University for a year. He was a member of Eighth Street Mennonite Church and of Maplecrest Country Club.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jan L. (Joseph) Durand, Granger; a son, Jerry E. Culp, Montezuma, Ga., 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (Kauffman) Mills, Monterey, Tenn., and Bernice Bainter, Fort Myers, Fla.; and two stepdaughters, Nancy (Stefan) Miller, Goshen, and Cindy (Gary) Burge, Goshen; and a stepson, Jack (Nadine) Bechtel, Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his first wife; his father, mother and stepfather, Mervin Kauffman; and two brothers, Frank Kauffman and Bill Culp.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Yoder Culp Funeral Home.

Services are set for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen, with additional calling one hour prior. The Rev. Kevin Farmwald will conduct the service.

Private family burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.
