John Chupp

Jan. 1, 1921-Jan. 28, 2010

John Chupp, 89, 62139 C.R. 43, Goshen, died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday at his residence.

He was born Jan. 1, 1921 in Elkhart County, to Samuel and Amanda (Borkholder) Chupp.

On Jan. 1947, he married Edna Hochstetler in Kosciusko County. She died Jan. 13, 1999.

He was a blacksmith and farmed later in life. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Chupp, Goshen, Sara (Jerry) Slabaugh, Nappanee, and Wanda (Raymond) Mullet, Goshen; two sons, Olen Jay (Sharon) Chupp and Ray Allen Chupp, both of Goshen; 18 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Anna (Elmer) Byler, Nappanee, Verna (Gideon) Bontrager and Elizabeth (Ralph) Miller, both of Goshen, and Barbara (Ray) Borkholder, Nappanee; and a brother, Levi (Mary) Chupp, Nappanee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three infant daughters, Linda, Carolyn and Etta Fern Chupp; four sisters, Mattie Hershberger, Lydian Chupp, Katie Borkholder and Amanda Chupp; and five brothers, Eli, Joseph, Emanuel, Harvey S. and Jacob Chupp.

Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Saturday and all day Sunday at the Earl Lambright residence, located across the road from the home place.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Elmer Wingard residence, 61991 C.R. 43, Goshen, and will be conducted by Bishop Floyd Chupp and the home ministers.

Burial will be in Southeast Clinton Cemetery, Goshen.
