Elizabeth Schmidt

July 22, 1950-July 11, 2012

TERRE HAUTE — Elizabeth Schmidt, 61, died Wednesday at Union Hospital.

She was born July 22, 1950 in Ottmarsheim, Germany.

She is survived by her siblings, Margarete, Anna, Martin and his wife, Veronica Schmidt, and Susie and her husband, Dane Dickerson. She is also survived by her nieces, Jessica Schmidt, Lisa Schmidt, Rebecca Schmidt, Mindy Tarrh and her husband, Richard, and Cheryl Dickerson; and her nephews, Martin Schmidt, Michael Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt and his wife, Christen, Erik Schmidt, John Schmidt and his wife, Megan, and their daughter, Kadence, Stephen Schmidt and Philip Dickerson.

She was the beloved daughter of Martin and Mathilde Schmidt, now deceased. Her niece, Arielle Dickerson Weir, also preceded her in death.   

Elizabeth graduated from Goshen High School in 1968. After high school, she served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971. Thereafter, Elizabeth worked as a legal secretary for many years in Terre Haute, Elkhart and Chicago. She retired in 2010.

Friends may call Sunday from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., Terre Haute. Father Rick Ginther will conduct the service.

Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Ann Medical Clinic, 1436 Locust St., Terre Haute, IN 47807 or Ryves Hall, 1356 Locust St., Terre Haute, IN 47807.
