Elmer J. Byler

NAPPANEE — Elmer J. Byler, age 89, of 9545 W. Hepton Rd., Nappanee, died at 12:55 p.m., Friday, July 13, 2012 at his residence after suffering a stroke. He was born February 3, 1923 in Nappanee to John and Lovina Burkholder Byler. He married Anna Chupp March 27, 1947. Mr. Byler was a lifetime area resident. He had worked as a Carpenter and also was a factory worker. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Mr. Byler is survived by his wife Anna Byler, daughters, Marietta (Ray) Couch, Yacolt, Wash., Ruth (Crist) Helmuth, Penrose, Colo., Barbara (Paul) Troyer, Bourbon, and Nora (Duane) Miller, Nappanee, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a sister, Elizabeth Byler, Shipshewana. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Joe and Lester Byler, sisters, Lydia Mae Miller and Marry Miller and grandchildren, Kent and Todd Helmuth and Caralee Troyer.

Family and friends may call all day Sunday at the Duane Miller residence (9625 W. Hepton Road). Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m., Monday, July 16 at Duane Miller’s. Officiating will be Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church and burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.

Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
