Herman N. Adkins

Aug. 20, 1957-Nov. 25, 2012

SHIPSHEWANA — Herman N. Adkins, 55, died at 5:25 p.m. Sunday at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

He was born Aug. 20, 1957, in Huntington, W.Va., to Nolice and Erma (Bradshaw) Adkins.

On Feb. 4, 1976, he married Jaqueline Mauck in MIddlebury. She died June 5, 1992.

He is survived by his two daughters, Amanda Adkins and Christina (Sam) Tokar, both of Middlebury; his mother, who lives in Shipshewana; seven sisters, Connie (Herbert) Lambert of Chesapeake, Ohio, Nora Adkins of Huntington, W.Va., Nancy Adkins of Wayne, W.Va., Brenda Adkins of Shipshewana, Bernice Wagner of Culloden, W.Va., Edna Adkins and Lynn (Mike) Conklin, both of Shipshewana.

He was preceded in death by his father and wife.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury, where a funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. The Rev. Rich Troyer will officiate.

Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Thursday for a graveside service at Scott Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Memorials may be given to Miller-Stewart Funeral Home to be added to his mother’s (Erma Adkins) funeral trust or to American Foundation for AIDS Research.
