Robert C. ‘Bob’ Gumbert

FORT WAYNE — Robert C. “Bob” Gumbert, 82, passed away Thursday at University Park Nursing Home.  

Born Feb. 13, 1930 in Fort Wayne, he retired in 1984 as a parts department manager for Carriage Inc.  He was a Korean War Air Force veteran who served from 1951 to 1953.  He was a 50-year member of North Webster American Legion Post 253.  He loved to fish and have a garden with lots of flowers when living at Knapp Lake.  

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia L. Gumbert of Fort Wayne; daughters, Gertrude “Trudi” McGinnis, Fort Wayne, and Myra (Jim) Christner, Syracuse; grandchildren, Valerie (Kelly) Anglemyer and their son, Aspen, of Goshen, and Ryan (Sara) Christner, Syracuse; and sisters, Bernita Weaver and Evelyn Heckman, both of Fort Wayne.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elsie Gumbert; and siblings, Lucille, Alfred, Maybelle and Elmer.  

A time of visitation has been set for Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Highland Park Cemetery Chapel, 2403 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, where a funeral service will take place Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.  

Preferred memorials may be made to Parkview Hospice or Cancer Services of NE Indiana or Patient Services Institute.
