GOSHEN — Robert Dean Fields, 67, passed away early Friday morning at Courtyard Healthcare after battling lung cancer.
He was born in Goshen Oct. 22, 1944 to Harold and Donna (Koch) Fields. He married Sonya Morris Nov. 20, 1985 in Las Vegas. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kecia Johnson, and a grandson, Avery Hill, both of Oakland, Calif.; his mother, Donna Fields of Goshen; a brother, John R. Fields, Goshen; three sisters, Jeannie Paul and Ruthie Fields, both of Ariz., and Rhonda Paul, Lexington, Ky.; a niece, Caraline Hale-VanDiepenbos, New Paris, and a host of other nieces and nephews; and good friends Donna Scott and Patty Burns.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A 1962 graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Fields served four years with the U.S. Air Force before graduating from Indiana University. He worked as an electrician in San Francisco until his retirement in 2006.
Friends may call from 5 p.m., until the 6 p.m., memorial service on Wednesday, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Rev. Father Anthony Steinacker, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, will officiate.
