Karen Jean Swartz

Sept. 8, 1959-July 8, 2012

BRISTOL —  Karen Jean Swartz, 52, died after a lengthy illness at 1:30 a.m. Sunday at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1959 in Elkhart, to Dean and Jean (Pickrell) VanSkyHock. Surviving in addition to her parents are a son, Kyle (Jill) Swartz of Bristol; two daughters, Holly (Craig) White of Bristol and Lynlee Swartz of South Bend; four grandchildren, Ethan and Grace Swartz, Corbin and Liam White; and a sister, Lori Ann VanSkyHock of Long Beach, Calif.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mason Edwin Swartz.

She served on the Bristol Homecoming Committee, loved to cook and sew, and was a pianist often accompanying children’s performances. She was able to make friends with anyone and during her illness she found comfort being a good steward to the community showing it with her last gift of organ donation.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bristol United Methodist Church, Bristol.

There will be a private family funeral service at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Bristol.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury to help with expenses or to the BUMC Pantry.
