James T. Snyder

NEW HAVEN — James Thomas Snyder, 72, New Haven, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Snyder was born in Fort Wayne on April 10, 1940, to the late Boyd and Mildred (Gause) Snyder. He graduated from Leo High School in 1958. He honorable served his country in the United States Navy for seven years. Jim was employed with American Electric Power for 35 years before retiring March 21, 2001.

He is survived by a daughter, Katrina M. Snyder, New Haven; a son, Darrell T. (Marlo) Snyder, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren, Joshua, Ben, Jonah and Jared Snyder; companion and special friend, Rebekah Arbuckle, Shipshewana, and her children Caden, Abriana and Alayna. He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Snyder.

Graveside services and military honors will be held Saturday, May 19, at 10 a.m. at Bowers Cemetery, at the corner of Stellhorn and Maysville Road, Fort Wayne. Officiating the service will be Rev. Brian Arbuckle. Military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Post 499 Honor Guard and active duty U.S. Navy troops.

Memorials may be made to an education fund that will be established for Jim’s grandchildren.
