Ernest L. Yoder

Aug. 23, 1922-May 2, 2012

GOSHEN — Ernest L. Yoder, 89, Greencroft Drive, formerly of C.R. 40, died at 9 a.m.  Wednesday at Greencroft Goshen Health Care.

He was born Aug. 23, 1922 in Goshen, to Melvin J. and Lillie (Hostetler) Yoder.  

He married Erma Faye (Steingass) Yoder Dec. 27, 1953; she died Oct. 3, 2004.

He is survived by his daughters, Marie (Rodney) Yoder Dyck, Bluffton, Ohio, and Jane Rodriguez, Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Edward L. (Barb) Yoder, Goshen; sister, Marietta Yoder, Topeka; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife; brothers, Eldon and Melvin Yoder; and sisters, Grace Wulliman and Helen Schnell.

Ernest was a retired carpenter and a member of Eighth Street Mennonite Church, Goshen.

A memorial service will take place May 17 at Eighth Street Mennonite Church with Pastors Kevin Farmwald and Brenda Sawatzky Paetkau officiating. The time is pending.

Burial will be in Defiance, Ohio, at a later date.  

Memorials may be directed to the Mennonite Central Committee.
