Martin Ramer

Jan. 13, 1923-Dec. 11, 2012

GOSHEN — Martin Ramer, 89, 65147 C.R. 15, died Tuesday at 11 a.m. at his residence from complications of old age.  

He was born Jan. 13, 1923 in Elkhart County, to Menno and Martha (Martin) Ramer.  He was a lifetime area resident and a farmer.  Martin was a member of the Yellow Creek Old Order Mennonite Church.  

He married Edith Mary Horst Jan. 30, 1947, in Rockingham County, Va. She survives.

Also surviving are a son, Amos H. and Annie (Burkholder) Ramer of Goshen; daughters, Lena H. Ramer, and Naomi H. Ramer, both of Goshen; granddaughter, Marianna B. Ramer of Goshen; and a brother, Enos Ramer of Wakarusa.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Ivan, who died in 1950, and Harvey, who died in 1964; brothers, Mervin, Willis, Samuel, Nathan, and Ira Ramer; sister, Alma Imhoff; and two infant siblings, Margaret and David Ramer.  

Visitation will take place today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the family residence.

A funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Yellow Creek Old Order Mennonite Church, Goshen, and will be officiated by the home ministers.   

Burial will follow at Yellow Creek Frame Cemetery.  Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, is handling arrangements. To leave online condolences for the family, visit www.tlyfh.com.
